How to Cut Watermelon

Watermelon is the quintessential summer fruit, perfect for cooling off on a summer day, or adding a lovely refreshing element to food and drink recipes. But cutting up watermelon can be a bit hard, sticky and down right messy.

That’s where watermelon slicers come into play. Watermelon slicers are great because the slice up melons neatly and evenly with one swift  motion. You can also serve the melon using the same tool.

The watermelon slicer is a stainless steel tool that combines a cutting knife and tongs in one. Made with sterling steel, it cuts melons like butter and it is very easy to clean. The slicer is also curved to accommodate the shape of a melon.

The slicer is not only better than using a regular old knife, it keeps your hands nice and cutting surface clean during the process.

Watermelon Slicer

First you cut your watermelon in half with a regular knife.

Next, take your slicer with the sharp edges facing down and start carving it into the watermelon flesh for instant slicing. 


Make sure to push the slicer as far down to the bottom of the watermelon as possible. Cutting your watermelon this way is great, because all the juice is contained inside the fruit rind.

Once you’ve created the slices you want, you simply take the tool, and turn it upside down with the sharp edges facing up. Grab a sliced piece of watermelon and lift it out of the shell.
