Most of us think healthy, dewy skin is a lot of work, high maintenance, and a lot of super expensive products! But, this read today is going to help you understand that it is the small steps and efforts that are the key to glowing dewy skin!

When the temperature soars, the heat and humidity can make your already active oil glands hyperactive. You eventually end up with excessive sebum around the T-zone, itchy rashes, sunburn, and premature signs of aging. This is why you need a proper skin care routine as your first line of defense.

 

We completely understand the confusion one faces, to follow a particular regime or to find the perfect products as the overflowing products in the market today make it next to impossible to settle on one! With so many options, flavors, formulas coming in, in different brands right from drug stores to high end super luxurious skin care lines, choosing the right one for your skin is not easy. HYDRATE! Keep yourself super hydrated by drinking a lot of water. Always carry a bottle of water everywhere you go, and make sure you sip on it at regular intervals. Drinking water is the best way to flush out toxins from your body!

CHANGE YOUR FACEWASH. With every change in season, the facial skin also needs different requirements. Most of us experience super oily skin during summer, whereas during winters we experience dry, flaky skin. This is because the facial skin is 10 times more sensitive than any other skin on our body, and reacts more sensitively to different climates! Therefore, guys you should definitely consider shuffling or changing your face wash and find just the one that works for your skin type in a specific season!

Remember, your skin is NOT going to change overnight, you need to invest ample time into it. Make sure you wash your face 2-3 times a day, for desired results!

SPF SPF SPF! We wear jackets during winters, carry umbrellas during rains, wear mittens while baking, why? We’re aware of the care, and prevention required, SUNSCREEN does exactly that for the perfectly supple skin. It is something absolutely necessary, and shouldn’t be forgotten. Excessive UV exposure can permanently damage your skin and cause sunburn, wrinkles, fine lines, and premature aging. Invest in a sun block or sunscreen that has a broad UV spectrum (at least SPF 30). Apply it twice a day on all the exposed parts of your skin.

DETOX and ANTIOXIDANTS! Make sure to invest in products that support and include antioxidants like vitamin C! They’re amazing for skin, and help in healing inflamed skin, reddishness, and roughness (All common during summer). These also boost the collagen development. Topically applying antioxidants doesn’t give you a 100% benefits, infact including these in your diet is also important. Nourishing your skin from within is the most effective way to achieve super healthy skin! Consume lots of seasonal foods, such as pineapples, citrus fruits, fresh berries, seafood, and vegetables. These contain essential vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants that boost collagen production, reduce inflammation, and protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun.

MAKEUP OR NO MAKEUP? Go super easy on makeup, and try to stick to basic products. Your skin needs to breathe when the weather is super hot and humid. If you absolutely cannot do without your foundation, go for a tinted moisturizer with SPF and layer it with face powder to avoid any patchy spots. Do not forget your lips. Instead of lipsticks, use tinted lip balms with SPF. Avoid heavy eye makeup. Stick to a simple kajal/kohl instead.

SCRUB AWAY! For healthy skin, exfoliation is vital! Exfoliation is nothing but deep cleansing of your skin, to get rid of dry dead skin cells, dirt etc. The best way to exfoliate is to use homemade sugar based scrubs! These are rich with antioxidants and are not super grainy. Remember to scrub gently, if you’re using a packaged scrub, make sure it isn’t super grainy. Scrubs with a rough, grainy texture can cause micro tears as the facial skin is super delicate! Scrub gently, and use a homemade sugar based scrub for best results!

TONE, TONER AND TONE-ST! Tone your skin post all the steps! Toners are the newest and one of the most effective ways to achieve perfect and dewy skin! It reduces pores, and keeps your skin oil and dirt free. The easiest way to apply a toner is using a cotton pad in case your toner does not come with a sprayer nozzle!

MOISTURIZE. Many of us think moisturizer is not important unless its winter, but little did you know moisturizer is the key to keep your skin supple and healthy? Yes. Moisturizer locks down your skin care routine, and is the last step of skin care. It helps to shut your pores with all goodness and required moisture. The only difference is that the heavy moisturizers that you used during the winter months will not work during summer. You need to use a light moisturizer when the weather is warm. Pick a non-greasy and lightweight moisturizer (pick one with SPF for daytime use) that will help to lock in the essential moisture of your skin.

WORKOUT. SWEAT AWAY. This is not a myth! Working out is one of the most effective way to flush out toxins, as the sweat caused during the intense activity pushes all of them out! Working out helps in achieving a clear skin too! Physical activity improves blood flow, which means your skin cells get more oxygen. Thus, your body heals any tissue damage (like a sunburn or acne) easily. You think exercising in the gym is monotonous? Add some fun to your workout routine and try Zumba instead. Even better, go cycling, play volleyball with your friends, or try hiking. Any form of exercise is good for your health!

SNOOZE SNOOZE. This is the easiest, and the most loved part! Get enough sleep, your body requires time to repair, heal, replenish those tired cells from the previous day! Allow yourself a luxurious 7-8 hours of sleep! While your body rests, it boosts melanin development, repairs any damage to the skin cells, and revitalizes your immune system so that it can fight off acne-causing bacteria and other germs that might damage your skin.
